let’s skip the small talk
Talking to Tess provides trauma informed mental health counseling in Texas and Tennessee
I’m glad you’re here.
I’m Tess Taylor, LPC LCDC (she/her)
It’s pretty common in the therapy world to “throw what you know.” In other words: hello to those of you that found me because you also identify as eldest daughters, parentified children, or people pleasers who are working on identifying their own sense of self, setting boundaries in a way that doesn’t feel ‘mean’, and building a life that feels authentic and aligned to you.
My clinical experience started in the recovery field as a result of many people that I care about struggling with the disease of addiction. Throughout my time providing care in that space, I realized that relational trauma was at the core of so many people’s desire to numb and use substances to cope.
When we are raised in environments that teach us to prioritize others, we don’t get the opportunity to learn how to identify our own wants and needs. Our ability to advocate for ourselves is diminished, and it can lead to us feeling misunderstood in relationships, and ill-equipped to care for ourselves as adults.
I am here to help with that.
Therapy happens in relationship
I pursued counseling because I believe in the power of healthy, supportive relationships. Trust is essential for transformation and growth, and it is important to me to create a safe space where you are able to be yourself without fear of judgment.
